Biography

NGUYEN TAI HUNG, PhD in Musicology, Head of Accordion Department for The Vietnam National Academy of Music.

In 1982 he graduated the Elementary Music School of The Vietnam National Academy of Music – VNAM and in the same year, he left Vietnam to Russia for further accordion studying..

In 1988 he graduated from the Moscow Gnessin State Musical College (Bachelor degree) as accordionist, class of Honored Cultural Worker of Russia V. Motov and as Conductor the Orchestra, class of People’s Artist of Russia V. Kozhukhar.

In 1993 he graduated from the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music (class of Prof., People’s Artist of Russia Y. Dranga), received a Master’s degree of Fine Art.

In 2007, he successfully defended his PhD thesis on The Accordion Transcription and Accordion Orchestra Arrangementsat The Vietnam National Academy of Music.

From 1996 to present: Lecturer, Head of Accordion Department for The Vietnam National Academy of Music in Hanoi.

Among the students – prize winner of International Competition: Nguyen Quynh Chi (2nd Prize, Accordion International Competition in Reinach, Switzerland, 2009) and 7th place in Master Category in Trophee Mondial 67th, France 2017.

He has played in a lot of concerts, both solo and in chamber groups, as well as a conductor with VNAM accordion orchestra in main concert halls in Vietnam.

Nguyen Tai Hung was a member of Jury for The CMA Trophee Mondial de l’Accordeon in France 2017

He was the general secretary for the Vietnam National Academy of Music – a voting member of The Confederation Internationale des Accodeonistes (CIA) since 2003.
